The Best Documentary Director Award has been awarded to Mohammadreza Vatandoust for his short narrative documentary “Lotus“.

Beirut International Film Festival, one of the most prestigious festivals in the Middle East and Asia, is famous for celebrating many up and coming directors. Lotus, the only Iranian film represented at the 18th Beirut International Film Festival, follows the story of an old woman who has waited for 12 years in the hope of being able to cross a lake one day, in order to get back in touch with the only resident of Lafourak.

Lotus had previously received the ‘Artistic Vision Award’ of the 16th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, as well as being nominated for other international film festivals such as Sheffield Doc/Fest, 24th LA Film Festival, Manchester International Festival and many more.
